July 8: Priscilla and Aquila

History

Aquila and Priscilla were tentmakers who were two of the first Christians. They moved to Corinth, where Saint Paul stayed with them and helped them make tents when he wasn’t preaching about Jesus. Aquila and Priscilla also instructed people about Jesus. One of the most important things about Aquila and Priscilla was that they worked together as tentmaker and as teachers of the Gospel. Before Jesus, women were not considered equal to men. Jesus showed us that God loves women as much as He loves men, and that He calls women to serve the Church, too.

Activity

Today, be tentmakers just like Aquila and Priscilla. Work in teams of two to make tents by draping sheets over tables or chairs, etc. You can also use small pieces of fabric to make tents for your dolls, action figures and stuffed animals.

Saint Priscilla and Saint Aquila, pray for us!
