January 20: Saint Fabian

History

Fabian was just an ordinary Catholic layperson when Pope Anteros died in the year 236. Fabian went to Rome to see who would be chosen as the next pope when something extraordinary happened. A dove flew down from the ceiling and settled right on Fabian’s head. Everybody realized that this was a message from God that Fabian should be pope.

Activity

Over at Catholic Icing, they make some quite lovely (but simple) doves out of paper plates. Make yours today!

Saint Fabian, pray for us!
