"The Triumph of St. Thomas Aquinas Over the Heretics" by Filippino Lippi |
History
Thomas was a bright student and a
quick learner. He joined the Dominicans when he was 17 years old. He studied
under Saint Albert the Great, but everybody called him the “dumb ox” because he
was so quiet and such a big man. He wrote many important books that taught
people to love Jesus and to love each other, which is why he is a Doctor of the
Church.
Activity
The symbol of Saint Thomas Aquinas
is a star, which represents all the help God gave him in showing him the way he
should go. Today, mix up some sugar cookie dough (or purchase pre-made dough) and make
star-shaped cookies. If you like, decorate them with yellow sugar for a little
extra shine.
Saint Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!
